( Brand: Telescope ), ( Manufacturer Part Number: 6344 ), ( Model: SEARS 6344 ), ( Type: Refractor ), ( Mount Type: Equatorial ), ( Maximum Magnification: 31-100x ), ( Aperture: 76 Mm ), ( Country Of Origin: Japan )
The 6344 is a nice scope. Apart from what looks to be a little wear the tripod hub this scope pristine. I have 3D-printed a 1.25 adapter and am including star diagonal so you can use modern eyepieces, but this scope does come with the original 0.965 accessories all color coded. Original book, sky chart, tray light.
All of the original Styrofoam inserts in box are good condition. Taco and others imported them with different paint jobs. Heres what you're getting, in all I have verified everything is complete and taken the OTA out for a quick test under night sky it performs wonderfully, as expected. This isn't just a collectible or toy either; the optics in this scope are really sharp and able to show you things like shadow transits of Jupiter's moons dust lane Andromeda.
The mount head is pretty sturdy and has nice slow-motion control cables, the tripod adequate enough personally I'd DIY some new legs out of maple optical quality this scope world-class. I was told by the previous owner that it never actually taken out of box - he seems to have been misremembering as its definitely assembled once or twice, but that's about. Solar projection screen and hardware. Original wood case.
Original EQ mount w/tripod legs and accessory tray. Original counterweight and slow motion cables. This is a Sears 6344 76mm f/15 achromatic refracting Telescope made in Japan by Marmot and imported 1971 according to the serial number. So if you want the experience of opening a brand new one these in 1971, well, I don't think can do much better than this.
